Houston, I have a problem!

During the two weeks my home was without power, I had the opportunity to visit Dallas and "commute" like some of the locals. Our family stayed in a pet friendly place north of downtown and was able to ride the train into work every day. While the Dallas Area Rapid Transit rail system isn't complete by any means, it is an awesome alternative to driving up and down 75 to and from Plano! A city that wants to be great MUST find alternatives in rapid transit in order to keep gridlock in check. I believe Dallas is on the right track.

Houston, why must we always bicker and fight about rail? Our traffic normally sucks. And now, after Ike with numerous traffic signals still out, it sucks ROYALLY! The idea that rail is bad for a community and it's property values is flat out wrong. The best place to live in a big city with extensive rail service is near a train station. Those homes are the MOST valuable. Go ask anyone from the NY or Chicago suburbs. Houston...give us rail!
